How Long Does It Take To Become An Elite Powerlifter?

The definition of an elite powerlifter is not clearly defined and may be up for interpretation. However, many powerlifters currently consider a 450+ DOTS score to be elite based on the current talent pool. Over the years, the definition of “elite” has significantly increased due to the ever-growing talent pool. Achieving a 450+ DOTS score may take anywhere from 1 year of powerlifting-specific training to 5+ years, depending on many factors such as genetics, training methods, and recovery from training.
