How Do You Know If Back Pain Is Muscle or Disc?

Muscle pain does not produce numbness or tingling, but a disc pressing on an adjacent nerve root can create these symptoms. In addition, muscle pain is not typically influenced by coughing, laughing, or sneezing, but a disc injury is often more symptomatic with these activities.
